The DE MAJO IIlumination factory was first founded at the end of World War II by Guido de Mayo, who left his native Naples, moved to the lagoon, and in 1947 founded his first glass factory on the island of Murano. From the outset, although small in size, the company played an important role in the production of Murano glass, developing in just a few years into a solid and consolidated industry.
With an emphasis on quality, the De Majo brand has always taken advantage of exciting new opportunities created in the glass industry. In the 70s design became an important element of production and De Majo was one of the first companies to invest in this concept and present a standardized assortment alongside traditional high-quality handicrafts, which significantly expanded its market.
Young designers were given the freedom and opportunity to express their creativity in order to achieve the best possible results, combining creative skills with the need to offer a standardized product that combines the essence and design consistency between product appeal and effectiveness and performance at the same time.
