One of Lema's unique features is our strong connection to the design world. Throughout the history of our company, we have partnered with leading designers, effectively combining our manufacturing experience with their talent.
Compositional flexibility, modularity and individuality, exquisite aesthetics and high quality materials and workmanship are the keys to Lema's success. Lema is a well-established industrial player with roots in the 1930s, when Angelo Meroni, the current president's grandfather and namesake, opened a workshop in the center of Brianza specializing in the production of handicraft furniture. After that, a store was opened in Milan in the 1950s. An important turning point came in the 1970s when Luigi and Enrico - Angelo's sons - founded Lema. This marked the transition of the enterprise to industrial production.
Casa and Contract are Lema's two main areas of activity in the field of industry and design, besides the office projects of IOC, our brand dedicated to the world of office furniture. We have 55,000 m2 of production space in our two factories in Alzate Brianza and Gissano, both designed by Angelo Mangiarotti, in addition to 240 employees, making us one of the largest Italian furniture manufacturers in the world.
